Default TPTK - Can you get away from it?

9 handed $3/$6 NL. I get AKs in late position ($280 in chips). One limper who is very loose calls from UTG ($600 in chips). I raise to $18, limper calls. We see the flop heads-up.

Flop comes 6A4 rainbow. Opponent checks, I bet $24. He calls. Turn is 8. Opponent checks, I bet $54, get raised another $54. I call. River is a 9 (no flush). Opponent bets $108, I call.

He shows 57 for a straight on the turn. What would you have done differently, if anything? Do I bet the flop harder? Can I get away on the turn or river? This guy is super loose. He's one of these guys who is always playing any two cards in hopes of sucking out. He seems to frequently suck out on me.

Bet the pot on the flop or push against a guy like that. Alternatively, if you bet as you did, you need to fold to that turn re-raise. Guys like that usually show strength when they hit something hard. Think about it--it's hard to bet aggressively with nothing or just TP. In my experience, more often than not, when the LAG tells you your K is no good, you need to listen. Especially if he tells you again, as he did with the river bet.

Consider the hands that maul your stack...

57...as you saw
69...LAGs love to play it
A6, A4, A8, A9...no ace left behind by the LAG
64, 68...limp...then call a raise...yup
89...limp...then call a raise...yup
T7...maybe
set of 4s, 6s, 8s or 9s...limp...then call a raise...yup

And think about what you can beat that he'd play that way...

uh...

hmmm...

well...

AT-AQ? Maybe, but would a LAG have limped with it?

You get my point.

Hope this helps.
