WSOP $1500 NL -- a few hands with Phil Ivey and John Phan
My first event at this year's WSOP. Over 200 tables. I get to my table a few minutes before the start of the event. I see Ron Rose about 5 seats to my left. Okay, one strong pro... any more? A minute later John Phan takes the seat to my left. Okay, perhaps the most aggressive player on the circuit to my left... great. Anyone else? The seat to my right is empty. Just before the cards are dealt a young guy takes the seat. All right... I'm okay here. The next thing I know the dealer tells him that he has the wrong table. A few hands go by and I look up. Phil Ivey takes the seat. I'm trying to come up with two tougher players to be sandwiched between, but I'm pretty sure that this is about as tough as it gets. As it turns out I did last longer than both of them, but it was pretty interesting to watch their style and how it limited my play against them. I'm heading out to dinner, but will post some observations and interesting hands against them. You guys can tell me how I might have screwed up because of their reps.
