Your humble author cashed for the first time in what seems like a decade yesterday, but the big story was the friends of the blog slicing through tourneys all across the internet last night/early this morning.

MATHCLUBNZ had a couple of final tables on Absolute Poker. The first was in the $9K Guaranteed SuperStack where he won $1080.00 for finishing 3rd out of 83. The second was in $6500 Guaranteed where beating out 260 other players for a 3rd place was worth $721.50.

Finally, playing under his screenname of jakehekejnr, MathClub made the final table in PokerStars Tournament 86176132. Once again he finished 3rd, this time out of 396, and won $1318.68.

iLLNuGWichee final tabled the PokerStars $109 NLHE [$25,000 guaranteed!] winning $7815.00 for finishing 2nd out of 521.

Updates from www.sluggerwv.blogspot.com about the big week and tournament prowess of the usual suspects which happened while tworags.com was on hiatus.

iLLNuGWichee won the $12 Bodog $4K Guaranteed (rebuy) on 04-12-2008. For beating 143 other players Nuggy won $1411.20. Another great job. I'm running out of things to say about the seemingly daily tournaments he wins.

Wretchy won the PokerStars $22+R NL Hold'em on 04-13-2008. He won $5390.00 for beating 305 players.

Mathclub was only able to make 3 final tables yesterday, April 14, 2008.

In the $9k guarantee SS MTT, he beat out 80 players to finish in 9th place and win $315.00. Playing as ktpie at FullTiltPoker, Mathclub finished in 4th place in the $11,000 Guarantee (Rebuy) and won $1267.50 for beating out 213 other players. Finally, he cashed in the UltimateBet $3000 Guaranteed Rebuy, bringing in $480.00 for finishing 2nd out of 166. Another great night for New Zealand's finest. [[ This is a content summary only. Mathclub, playing under his Pokerstars screenname jakehekejnr, beat out 1520 opponents and won the PokerStars $25,000 guaranteed, $27.50 NLHE MTT. He won a cool $6717.27. Great job sir.

As if that wasn't enouhg, mathclub made the final table in the UltimateBet 6K guarantee BOUNTY MTT where he won $330.00 for finishing 6th out of 256. Another fine performance obv.

iLLNuGWichee must have been sleepy after the NCAA tourney the night before because he was only able to make 4 final tables last night/erly this morning. He finihsed 4th of 117 in the PokerStars $55 NL Hold'em [1 Rebuy - 1 Add-on] bringing in $1044.

iLLNuGWichee also final tabled the UltimateBet $18K Guaranteed Rebuy. He won $2070.00 for finishing 3rd out of 161.

iLLNuGWichee survived the final table but not much longer in the UltimateBet $20,000Guaranteed Bounty. He won $600.00 for finishing 9th out of 170. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Of course tonight finds me w AA and two callers to my raise pre-flop. Here, see for yourself:

It was a great weekend at the tables. Even though it was a small field, I was happy to make the final table in the $5.50 Stud MTT at UltimateBet. After making a final table yesterday, I was really excited to make another run deep into a tourney today. It's been a really long time since that has happened for me.

I also made it to the final three tables of a no limit hold em bounty tourney at UB tonight too. I didn't cash for a lot of money and only got one and a half bounty, the half bounty resulting from a hand where my AA and another guys AA knocked out a guy with KK, but it was nice to have another solid tourney today to go with the final table.

I wish everyone good luck as well at the tables.

I haven't been able to play much the past week and the two tourneys that I did get to play saw my KK chased down by two outers on UB. I had a few hours to play Saturday and decided to try out PokerStars since I could play longer if I went deep. Well an A6 suited thought it wise to call me twice with nothing and hit an ace on the turn to crack my aces in the hold em tourney I entered so I wasn't feeling terribly optimistic. But I joined a PL Omaha tourney after busting out of the hold em tourney. I like playing PL Omaha Hi Lo but haven't played many PL Omaha Hi tourneys and have had little success. But I got off to a good start in this tourney and, after what seemed like a day and a half when we got down to ten players, I was able to make the final table. It was my first final table at PokerStars in a long time. I was able to finish 5th after starting the final table in 6th place. [[ This is a content summary only.
An earlier blog entry of mine received a couple of anonymous comments from people I wanted to respond to.

Number one: The first post questioned me congratulating friends of mine for having good runs in tournaments too often and implied that it was inappropriate because my friends may not have been members of this site.

I congratulate friends when they have a good tournament and I know about it. I'm not waiting until later to do it and I don't care if they are members of this site or not. It seems like an odd complaint from someone who either hasn't joined the site and thus has to post anonymously or who is too much of a coward to acknowledge that he/she made the comments.

Number two: The second brave anonymous poster's great effort was to say "get this shit out of my face." Wow. Another person bravely standing behind his/her thoughtful and eloquent comments. I am so impressed.

I haven't been able to play as much as usual the past couple of weeks so it was nice to get to the Final Table in the $6.50 Bounty Tournament at UB. I really enjoy the bounty tournaments because it seems easier to get action with your good hands from the stacks who can double you up. The highlight of the evening was having two people call my all in pre-flop when I was dealt KK and then flopping quads! I took down a couple of bounties and entered the final table 5th in chips. I was able to increase my stack when Ak hit a King on the flop vs JJ. Unfortunately, the hand that crippled me was an all in w AKs pre-flop versus QQ. No help and I was soon out in 4th. A very nice payday and a great capper to a wonderful weekend.

Good Luck at the tables everyone.

Another final table machine, Louiemdj, made 2 more final tables today. Congrats Louie and thanks for the rail man.

I made the money in one tourney at FullTilt and might have gone deeper but a pot for more than 20k in chips saw my QQ lose to KJ after a preflop raise and a huge pet on the flop by me. Of course a King on the turn sent me to the rail.

I really enjoy playing in the bounty tournaments on UltimateBet. Those tourneys always seem to draw a lot of players and remind me of the glory days of UB where each NLHE tourney at my buy in level attracted 400-500 players.

I had a good tournament right from the start when I was dealt JJ on the first hand. One of the limpers called the raise and a Jack hit on the flop and the turn was a full house. My opponent called with a pair of fours and a straight draw all the way through the river.

I was happy, not only because I played more aggressively and well, but because I finished 17th and won 3 bounties. The tournament only has a $3 +.30 + $1 bounty buy in but also has a $3k guarantee. So my total take of $22.50 plus the 3 bounties netted me almost 6 times my outlay.

The great thing about bounty tournaments in my opinion is that it is easier to play a short stack when you get a hand bc people will call with a wider range of hands. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

After a frustrating few days, I limped into the money in a $5.50 NLHE MTT on FullTiltPoker. I was actually pleased with my play tonight as I was much more aggressive in the hands I played. I did have a disconnect problem that cost me several rounds of blinds and antes. I got my money in w AQ v 66 with slightly less than ten bbs after the 66 limped in. He hit a 6 on the flop and I was toast.

Good luck everyone.

It's good to be a friend of SluggerWV apparently. My online friends are making daily runs deep in tourneys which more often than not find them at the final table it seems. I take no credit for that by the way.

Congrats to Mathclub for taking down the $20+2 tourney on PartyPoker last night my time (he's in new zealand so i guess it was today his time). He scored a nice $1200 for the win, made a final table at AbsolutePoker where he finished 4th of 673, and also made the final table at Bodog where he took down 3rd place because AK<AJ and A8<A3 obv. Great job Mathclub; very Well done.

Also major Congrats to Wretchy for his work in the $22rebuy on PokerStars yesterday. Wretchy finished 2nd of 387 and won $5300+./ Another great run for the Wretched one. He's on fire and about to make major waves in the online Poker world. Very good job Wretchy.

Good luck at the tables everyone.

Happy Birthday to a great player and even better dude Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby. I hope it is a great day for Waco and I imagine that there will be at least one social event with hot women present today. It certainly was a good evening last night for Waco as he made the final table at the Bodog Poker Open main event and took down 3rd place. While it was not the least bit surprising, it was impressive nonetheless. Well done sir.

Congrats to Sicktight311 for making the final table of the $11 0300 tourney on PokerStars this morning. It was a great effort for Sick to overcome not only the opponents on the felt, but a terrible disconnect problem with Stars. Very good job sir. Finally, Congrats to Agriffrod for winning the $22rebuy on PokerStars yesterday to the tune of $6425. Awesome job sir. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Congrats to Dan "Wretchy" Martin for making the final table of the $100+9rebuy on FullTiltPoker last night after having taken down second place in the $320 tourney on PokerStars earlier in the day for $15,550.
Starting the final table 8th of 9 players, Wretchy worked his way into the chiplead until his AQ lost to JJ and was eliminated in 5th place when his AT ran into AJ. Great job and a nice little cash of about $5,400.

Wretchy has already had a great 2008. He took down the Sunday $25k guaranteed on PokerStars on March 2, the $30r on FullTiltPoker.com on February 26, and the $20rebuy on FullTiltPoker on February 15.

He's a great player who can truly dominate a tourney, a great guy and a true friend.

Bounty Tourney on UB

I play a lot of the lower buy in bounty tournaments on UltimateBet.com (UB). Last night's tourney was the first in awhile where I was able to play well and have a chance to get deep in the tourney.

I was the early benificary of a great hand which tripled me up when my KK ended up all in pre-flop vs JJ, AQ and AT. When that held, I won a bounty and went from approximately 1400 chips to 4900 chips. A short time later I believe my failure to act aggressively, combined with some bad luck, combined to prevent me from having a monster stack.

In the first of these two hands, I was dealt 99 in middle position and the action was folded around to me. Blinds were 50/100 so I raised to 300. Given that my table image is usually tight, I was surprised when I got 3 callers.
The flop came 2c 5c Kh. I checked. This was a mistake in hindsight. The pot had 1850. The player to my left went all in for 905. It was folded around to me and I called. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
