The Eldorado's 11-table non-smoking, poker room is open 24 hours, 7 days per week. The room spreads a variety of limit hold'em games (see above), NL, stud and Omaha as well as NL tournaments on Tue and Wed at 6p. The Eldorado offers one of the only true NL (unlimited stakes) games in the Reno area.
Mid-week activity is light; on weekends, though, the room is usually full. Wait lists are kept by hand, but it's easy to check you spot on the list or hear your name when called. Wait times can be 30 minutes or so for popular games/limits; players can call up to an hour ahead. Figure probably 3-4 smaller NL games and 1-2 larger NL games on a typical weekend. We're told the 2/3/5 NL game is particularly lively on weekends.
The floor staff and dealers are friendly and knowledgeable. The poker manager, Margie Heintz, was the first woman to deal at the WSOP; she runs a tight room and is very responsive to player inquiries.
Tables (no autoshufflers) and chairs (swivel) are in good shape. There are four plasma screens that can be seen easily from most seats. Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the poker room. Cocktail and food service is available tableside.
Player comps at $1/hr with a $7/day max. Players must use a Players Card. Note the day is measured from 8a-8a; play from 1a-8a and then 10-5p to accrue $14/day within a 24-hr period. Poker room rates vary with the season; call/email the desk for details.
