  Our quick thoughts
The PartyPoker network does not accept US players.

If you play poker online, you have to have an account at Party...period. It's the largest site by far for ring game and SnG traffic and holds many large MTTs each week. Party's games are considered the loosest online, in large part due to Party's constant advertising and promotion program. The software is pretty basic compared to that of other sites, although a recent upgrade (Feb 06) improved the lobby (better look and layout, filters to aid game and tournament selection, account balance and available bonuses are visible from the lobby, etc.) and added a nice multi-tabling feature (multiple tables can be automatically "tiled" to fit your monitor). Even with the improvements, other sites have more feature-rich software and better customer service (Party's can be inconsistent). But let's face it, Party's the most reliable source for 24-hr action in most games. Finally, Party's sign-up bonus, while not overly generous, is very easy to clear. If you're one of the few online poker players without a Party account, you need to fix that...ASAP. Note: if you're a tournament player, with the recent upgrade, Party has changed their blind structure to include antes after level 8.

Ring game play clears bonus? yes
To clear a bonus, you need to play 5x the bonus amount in raked hands. For example, to clear a $100 bonus, you'd need to play 500 raked hands. Note: this is one of the easiest sign-up bonuses to clear. Reload and other restricted bonuses on Party typically require 7-10x the bonus in raked hands.

  What we liked
- 24-hr action in whatever game or tournament you want
- There's a wide selection of MTTs at all buy-ins
- Stable, reliable software that's easy to use
- You can play up to 10 tables at once
- The sign-up bonus is easy to clear
- Party stocks the pond through constant advertising and promotion
  What we didn't like
- The lobby and table stats could be improved to provide more detail
- The MTT lobbies don't provide chip and blind structure info
- Customer support is inconsistent at best; responses are sometimes incomprehensible
- The minimum deposit ($50) is relatively high
- Where there's fish, there are sharks...expect to get bumped once in a while
Why you should play the site
- There's a huge selection of loose ring games of all types and limits
- SnGs seat almost instantaneously
- The high buy-in MTTs have life-changing prize pools
- With recent software changes, you can play 10 tables at once via a cool multi-tabling feature
- Party promotes constantly; you'll see a steady supply of new players on the site
- If you're an action junkie, you can play blackjack and make sidebets at the table
  For the ring game player
- Party's bonuses are easy to clear for ring game players
- There's 24-hr action in whatever type and size game you want
- Players can play up to 10-tables at once; it's a multi-tabler's dream
- There are "Beginner" tables for new players looking to learn without getting demolished
- Invest in PokerTracker [link]; there's a ton of support for Party ring games
  For the tournament player
- Party seats large MTTs constantly; its big daily MTT (9p EST) typically draws 1400+ entrants
- Recently updated Party software now allows final table deal-making in MTTs
- Party is one of the few sites with enough traffic to multi-table SnGs (up to 10 at once)
- Party's "Step" SnGs allow players to turn small buy-ins into big prizes
- There's a $5,000 freeroll for new players
- Tournament play does not count toward clearing bonuses
- Note: with the Feb 06 software upgrade, Party changed its MTT blind structure to include antes at level 8
  For the value player
- The real value at Party is the loose ring game and SnG action
- There's a $5,000 freeroll for new players
- The Bad Beat Jackpot tables have a higher rake but often see some crazy action
  Insider tips
- If you want to change your table graphics, a number of sites offer graphic add-ins (mods)
- Party is discussed ad nauseum on the leading poker forums; sites like www.twoplustwo.com are often better sources of info on Party than Party's own customer support
- Browse the TwoPlusTwo [link], PokerTracker [link] and Sit-n-Go PowerTools [link] forums for tips on playing Party's ring-game and SnGs

  Software review
Party's software has improved dramatically since its introduction in 2001. While not as feature-rich as other sites, Party's software offers clear and simple graphics and the features we think are most critical...table stats, real-time HHs, bet and pot amounts, intuitive betting buttons. Party's lobby info (no flop%s) and session stats need to be improved, but overall, we think this is the best software (and site) for regular players. Note: in Feb 06, Party upgraded its lobby to include filters to help table selection; still no flop %s, though. If you multi-table, you can play up to 10 tables at once and there's a unique multi-table feature that resizes your tables to fit your monitor. PokerTracker supports both Party's ring game and tournament hand histories. Party also offers blackjack and side-betting at the table; it's perfect for action junkies who want to burn off a few dollars.
  Hand histories
PartyPoker hand histories are stored on your hard drive (Options menu...Hand History Logs Configuration) and are available real-time from the table (click on last hand in the upper right hand corner). The histories are clear and include mucked hands. PokerTracker supports both ring games and tournaments at Party. Note: SnG tournament summaries can be sent automatically, if you choose.
