I am a middle aged guy who has been playing poker for over 20 years. Obviously with the recent boom in Hold Em, I have concentrated on that for the last few years. I was primarily a live player, but like everyone else I have dipped my toes into the lucrative online MTTS and Sit N Go's as well as the cash games. I think I bring a little different perspective to your site, as I am a bit older. I am a recreational player, but I have made a few nice cashes along the way. My biggest tournament cash live was $8k chop of a $500.00 Taj tourney back in 05, and my biggest on line tourney cash was a $20 Full Tilt tourney with 1520 players where I took down $4200 for 2nd place. No, I am not a pro, nor am I young gun internet player, however I would have no problem sitting down at any table anywhere, play my game, and let the chips fall where they may. In reading all the blogs on your site on a daily basis, I think I can breathe a little fresh air into all of you self absorbed, resident genius expert, online and tournament gurus ,, (I am sure you are nice guys) who actually believe there is a formula to playing poker. God Bless Phil Ivey,as he is the only poker guy who really gets it. There is no formula to poker, it is all about feel, instinct, strategy, reading ability, fate, fortune and a good dose of balls. Mix them all together and change it daily based on your table and that is about as close to optimum poker strategy you will ever get.
And at the end of the year, or years, just ask Doyle Brunson. It's all about who has the money IN THE LONG RUN! ,, not what a great poker strategist you are.
