  Our quick thoughts
The Boss media network of poker sites does not accept US players.

If you're tired of paying tons of rake with nothing to show for it, you'll like PokerSyndicate, former Imperial Poker, a Boss Media site. For each $1 of raked paid on the site, players will receive 50c of equity value in PokerSyndicate, with quarterly distributions. See www.pokersyndicate.com for details. It's still part of the Boss Media network, so there's plenty of soft limit ring game and SnG action, and the $10 minimum deposit via NETeller makes it easy to get started. At the tables, you'll find it simple to follow the action--the graphics are exceptional, pot and bet amounts are clear and the betting buttons large and well-placed. If you play sit n gos, you'll love the 10-minute levels and 1500 starting chips. In the MTT lobby, you'll find a nice selection of well-structured MTTs (1500+ starting chips, 10-15 minute level times); the guaranteed tourneys, though, rarely offer an overlay. If you're a serious player, you'll need to play during peak times to multi-table, and you'll find the hand histories and note features need work. On the plus side, the boost to your bankroll from the site's loose games and $100 sign-up bonus will make those shortcomings seem minor. With a little more activity at higher limits and ongoing software improvements (better hand histories!), we think PokerSyndicate could end up being your favorite site.

PokerSyndicate's bonus clears as follows: the site will return 50% of your deposit as pending bonus, and $5 of that pending bonus will be credited to your account for every $20 you pay in rake at the tables. At a $2/4 table, you'll likely pay about $8/hr of rake, so figure you'll clear the bonus at a rate of about $2/hour or $1 for each 10 raked hands.

  What we liked
- The equity concept is a great idea
- Nice lobby and table graphics
- Detailed tournament lobbies with complete blind and level info
- Loose (50+% pre-flop action) ring games
- 1500-2500 starting chips and 10 minute levels in SnGs
- Gruesome play in the short-handed SnGs
  What we didn't like
- Limited game selection at off-peak hours
- Lobby info was inaccurate in places
- No player notes at the table
- Hand histories are spartan and incomplete
- Live help is a 10 minute wait
Why you should play the site
- You get 50c of equity in the PokerSyndicate for each $1 of rake you pay
- The 50% signup bonus ($500 max) clears at a rate of $5 for each $20 of rake paid; that's in addition to the equity value you accrue; that equates to a 75% rake rebate
- The table and lobby graphics are stunning
- You'll demolish the loose ring games and lower limit SnGs
- There's a nice selection of well-structured MTTs
- You get a $100 sign-up bonus regardless of deposit amount
  For the ring game player
- There's plenty of loose, low limit ring game action--10-handed tables with 50%+ flop %s
- Short-handed tables have 5 players; the play is just as bad
- Full lobby info (flop%s, avg pot, hands/hr, etc.) makes it easy to find the game you want
- Large card graphics make it easy to multi-table (5 at once, max)
- Hand histories are incomplete and you can't access the player notes from the table
  For the tournament player
- Complete info in MTT and SnG lobby windows; blind and level info at the table in SnGs
- 10 min levels in regular SnGs; 5 min levels in 5-handed; they play the same
- $50+ buy-in SnGs start with 2500 chips; <$50, with 1500 chips; blind and level times are the same
- You'll see poor play in SnGs generally (all-in with K2o, Q9s, etc.)
- The MTTs don't offer much of an overlay, but there are a number to choose from ($1 to $100 buy-ins), and the play is sketchy at best
- Some of the gtd MTTs have 12 minute levels 1-5 and 15 minute level after level 6
- Tournaments are posted in GMT; EST is 5 hours earlier, PST is 8 hours earlier
  For the value player
- PokerSyndicate credits you with 50c of equity value for each $1 of rake you pay; that's about $3 per hour in a typical $2/4 game
- 50% deposit bonus/$500 max; minimum deposit via NETeller is $10
- Lots of low buy-in satellites to tour events
- The guaranteed prize pool MTTs rarely offer an overlay
- There's $200 daily freeroll at 10a EST; it draws 1000 entrants max and runs about 3 1/2 hours
  Insider tips
- Minimum deposit via NETeller is $10
- You can withdraw all but 1c of your account balance
- Tournaments are posted in GMT; EST is 5 hours earlier, PST is 8 hours earlier

  Software review
PokerSyndicate's software (Boss Media) offers stunning lobby and table graphics and is very enjoyable to play. The lobby offers complete info for game selection (flop%s, hands/hr, avg pot size, etc.); unfortunately, we found the information was sometimes inaccurate. At the table, action is clear and easy to follow; bet and pot amounts are clearly visible and the betting buttons are large and intuitive. We like the information available at the table for both ring games (flop%s, hands/hr, etc.) and SnGs (blinds, level time left, etc.) but found some table features could be improved--namely, the hand histories are incomplete, "live" help requires a 10 minute wait and the player notes feature is in the lobby not at the table. Overall, though, we like this software and enjoyed multi-tabling with it. Note: there's a very nice full screen option for players who prefer larger images.
  Hand histories
Hand histories are available real-time and open in a separate window for easy review. Unfortunately, the hand histories are incomplete as presented; specifically, the recap stops at the point you folded. Mucked hands are not shown in the hand histories. As of Jan 06, Boss Media sites like PokerSyndicate are not supported by PokerTracker.
