| Just a little Commerce $5/10 NL Cash Game Action |
Had to drop off some tworags/commerce promotional cards at the Commerce this afternoon and even though I didn't have much time to play I couldn't resist at least a little action so I dropped $400 down at the $5/10 NL (400 max) table, ordered some chicken kabobs - food is free at these limits - and began a quick session. Only had about an hour to play, but what the heck.
I observed for a few hands. Many hands went unraised and almost all reasonable raises in the $15-25 range got called by at least one or two players. This was also one of these weird games where every hand seemed to be won by a nut flush or fullhouse.
After about an orbit I'm dealt A 9 in the SB and complete with 4 limpers in front of me. Flop comes with two diamonds and I make it $30. Two people call. The turn brings the flush and I make it $75 and one guy calls. The board pairs which worries me just a bit, but I decide to make it $100 (kind of a value bet) and might consider folding to a push.

| WPBT 4th Annual Holiday Classic |
Cliff notes: Edmond plays the WBPT tournament at the Venetian. Busts out with A4o. Watches flight attendants play slots at the airport.
The event
Last week, I was chatting online with one of the folks that run The Poker Atlas and she mentioned the 4th Annual WPBT Holiday Classic at the Venetian on Saturday and suggested I play it. The last blogger tournament I entered was a complete embarrassment documented by Swami54 so the thought of any kind of redemption was compelling. I brushed aside the notion that she might be trying to pull more dead money into the prize pool and told her to put me on the list. Besides what better opportunity to display my superior tournament skills than before a hundred or so scribes committed to documenting hee-haw moves?

| Happy Holidays at the Horseshoe- Bossier City |
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! This was the worst Thanksgiving that I can remember. We spent the day, cooped up in the house; my wife was sick and I had a two-year old running around that I had to keep up w/. I did make a little online for Turkey day while my son was napping, but nothing significant. I’m not depressed about it being the worst Thanksgiving or anything, but it was the first time that I wasn’t w/ my family and friends on this much beloved holiday.
Friday was much more rewarding! My wife’s stomach bug was gone and we loaded up and drove an hour to her sister’s house. We helped her move for a few hours then I caught a ride w/ my cousin over to my favorite card room, the Horseshoe- Bossier City for some Live $1/3NL action!
OUT OF THE BLOCKS FAST!
Once again, I won the first hand that I played (this is always a good sign in my book.

| Thanksgiving weekend |
Wasn't too bad of a couple of sessions. It appears that I'm going to have to make sure that I play the second hand every time I sit down.
Saturday night sat down immediately at a 4-8 Limit Hold'em game and got A-A on the second hand. Flopped a set, rivered a boat. Played up and down the rest of the night for some 5 hours. A luck sack cowboy from LaGrange kept everybody on their toes and lots of loose wallets around the table kept the money flowing. Finished $24 up, not bad for first casino cash game.
Sunday morning again immediate seating at the 4-8 table. A Mimi Tran look alike was at the table, but she proved she wasn't with the loose wallet. The second hand I was in would have won a decent pot as I would have turned a set, but after the flop I didn't think I had a chance and threw my pockets away. My two pair couldn't hang with the set on the splash the cash hand.
Late in that session I found myself with pocket 9's in the BB.

| Club One Casino/Ace of Diamonds Trip Report - Edmond goes to Fresno |
Cliff notes: Edmond goes to Fresno for the big tournament. Busts out on 1st hand of Day 2. Donates buy-ins in the NL games. Vows to return.
Getting there
Last weekend, I packed up the voice recorder and headed north to play the 3rd Annual Ace of Diamonds tournament at the Club One Casino in Fresno, CA. The Ace of Diamonds is an annual event with a $400 (+$50 fee) buy-in that’s pretty much the biggest tournament in Central California.
The tournament had a Saturday noon start time and I had some business in Fresno on Friday, so I drove up the day before and spent the night at a local hotel. Saturday morning I got up, worked out, grabbed a bite to eat and headed over to the casino. I have to say it was a refreshing change from Southern California where you have to plan each tournament day with an eye to avoiding traffic.

| Wheeling Casino Visit |
This was my 1st visit to the new Wheeling Casino Poker Room. Very poor directions to the Poker Room. Everyone seems a little confused as we experienced problems with the unusal "Traveling Button" and the resulting 3 blinds instead of 2. No problem with buying chips but can see where there will be problems when there are several players waiting. Cashiers count & recount & recount, then give you the wrong amount. Tables run fairly smooth except at Dealer change which seems to happen quite often and stopped the game for up to 10 minutes. Still all in all it was an injoyable afternoon and I will return.

| Give me back my hat! |
Landlord79 and I along with my buddy Ben, who is an online pro, made a Friday afternoon trip to play some live $1-$3NL at my home casino, Horseshoe - Bossier City. I now know what it feels like to be Landlord79 when he goes to the Boat with me. I am usually the one running hot, but he can now say that he possesses the luckbox.
Nice hat, sir!
We arrived at the ‘Shoe at about 2:30 and before we go in LL79 asks me if he could wear my lucky TwoRags.com hat that Edmond was so kind to send me and, of course, I obliged. If you’re a luckbox like me, who needs a so-called lucky hat, right? As I start walking to the table after buying my chips from the cashier I notice that LL79 already has a full buyin of $300 in the middle of the table and I haven’t even sat down yet. He gets KK on his first hand and wins about $100 before I can even bust out my iPod.

King Me!!!!
BJJII and I decided to make a run to the Horseshoe-Bossier City this past Friday night. BJ's friend Ben was in town and also made the trip with us. Ben is a great guy and an awesome poker resource. Right now he's a student and making his living off of online poker, you could say that he's living the life. I think he's gonna stay with it after he graduates here in the near future, so anytime I get a chance to pick his brain I jump on it. He, BJ and I had some great strategy conversation on the hour and a half drive over there and I think that really put me into the proper frame of mind for a great live session.
Pulling into the Horseshoe's parking garage I felt mentally ready to take on the live donks. I also felt the "ON" switch click over on my luck box. Literally, I felt lucky!

| I Can't Believe I'm Out... |
Well, my WPT Niagara run just ended.
I started the day with 33,100 with 30min left in the 300/600/100 level, so I had plenty of room to play. My table draw was pretty great, I didn't have any notable players at my table, and the 2 people that had me covered were either to my right, or across the table.
I believe it was the 400/800/100 level when I was bluffed out of a decent sized pot. I opened to 2,200 with about 30k from MP, got 2 callers behind me, and then the BB called, so I was out of position vs 2 of the 3 opponents. Flop came KK5 with 2 diamonds, I had 7 7 . BB checked, I checked, player behind me checked to the button who bet out 4,500. The button was a decent aggressive player and also the big stack at the table. The BB folded, I called, and the player behind me folded. The turn was a black 3. I checked, button bet 16k of my 24k stack. I folded and he showed like 6 high or something.

| WPT Niagara Day 1B |
Not exactly in the blogging mood, but feel obligated to let everyone know how I’m doing here in Niagara.
I made my 3rd straight Day 2, ending up with 33,100 at the end of the day. The starting stacks were 20,000 and blinds started at 25/50 with 90min levels. We played from noon - 12:30am or so, it was a very long day. Day 1C was today, so I had the day off. Tomorrow is Day 2 and blinds will start at 300/600/100, so I still have a playable stack.
The rest of the tournament runs on 9 hour days (including breaks) 12pm - 9pm. As I said during WSOPE, I really love shorter days. I end up getting a bit tired near the end of a 12 hour day. It’s extremely difficult to play great and stay focused for 12 hours, but 9 hours isn’t so bad.
One gripe I do have about this venue is that they don’t allow the use of mp3 players during play. Although I don’t always listen to music while I play, I still use an iPod around half the time. They can definitely be useful.
