"I thought you had pocket kings..."

If you haven’t been watching it, NBC's Poker After Dark is a single table tournament that runs Mon-Fri from 2-3a and Sat from 1-2a that’s fun to watch if you’re insomniacs like us. It’s also available for viewing at the Poker After Dark website.

This week’s tournament included Phil Ivey, Phil Gordon, Jennifer Harmen, Erik Lindgren, online heartthrob Patrick Antonius and Jennifer Tilly (aka the 2005 WSOP Ladies event champion).

About 3/4 of the way through the 2nd segment, there’s a hand that will surely go down as on of the most humorous hands of televised poker. Here’s how it unfolds.

Tilly’s on the button with J J and raises to $1200. Patrick, in the small blind, calls with Th 8h commenting that, “Button raise? There’s never anything…”

The flop came T J 7, giving Tilly top set. Antonius checks to her and she bets $2000 into the $2800 pot. Antonius thinks for a moment and opts to call. Here’s where the fun starts.

First, Tilly is the only one at the table with sunglasses on, but it’s clear she is somewhat nervous in the company of the much more seasoned pro players. Her breathing is heavy and her chest is heaving. She either has a monster or is having a heart attack, probably the former.

The turn is the K, Antonius checks and Jennifer opts to CHECK behind. What? Ok, maybe she’s trying to induce a river bluff from Antonius, but when the river brings the K, Antonius checks and before his hand is done tapping the table she checks behind showing her full house.

Everyone at the table is shocked at the quality of her hand. Antonius exclaims, “Full house? I can’t beat that!” and Lindgren and Ivey trade looks of dismay. In an effort to save a little face but instead compounding the comedy, Tilly blurts out “I thought you had pocket kings.” giving the notoriously loose Antonius credit for the ultimate nuts, quad kings.

The high point of the video are the incredulous looks on the pros faces (particularly Ivey) as the segment winds down. Classic stuff.

In fairness to Tilly, she did play some pretty solid poker after that hand and could have easily won if she didn't suffer from two bad river beats towards the end of the tournament.
