Default WSOP Main Event Day 3: The End of My Poker Dream

I did not sleep well the night before Day 3, was awake far too early in the morning and could not get back to sleep. I had a sense of foreboding about the day, but tried to tell myself to just enjoy it. The money was already invested in the
tournament and even if nothing came of it I was already set-up with my new job in Montreal in August.

Tough luck and a tough situation. Not sure if I agree with the call, but that's not to say I wouldn't have made it myself if I'm in the same situation as you. You were making the call here and most certainly putting yourself in a coin-flip situation when it might not have been necessary. You would likely have many situations to build your stack through good play (3 betting from blinds, pushing out weak players, jamming with position, etc.) and/or good cards. I guess you just need to ask yourself this question... Is it ever a good idea to choose to coinflip for your ME life when it's not absolutely necessary to do so. Now of course, 'absolutely necessary' can mean a lot of different things to different people, and that's something what you need to define for yourself based on your table, your stack size if you pass up the call, how you feel about the way you're currently playing -- especially in relationship to others at the table, etc., etc. It looks like that's what you did and you made the decision that it was necessary.

If anything, the other AJ hand is a hand that you might have played differently by keeping the pot smaller PF since if the guy calls you are now out of position and cannot be that happy with most flops so you are winning a bit some of the time (but not really changing your chip position much) and putting yourself in a bad situation much of the time (and greatly harming your stack).
