  Our quick thoughts
The first time you log on to play you'll immediately notice the different look and feel to UB's software, table graphics and betting buttons. It'll take a moment or two to get used to the layout and buttons (it's somewhat different than that of the other leading sites), but you'll soon realize that UB had the player in mind when they designed this site. Action is easy-to-follow, betting buttons are intutive and easy-to-use, information is complete and readily available. There's plenty of ring game action albeit weighted toward NL (60/40) and smaller stakes (<$3/$6), and all table info is available from the lobby to ease game selection. UB's SnGs have a very favorable blind structure (1500 chips, 10-12 minute levels); there's plenty of play (60+ minutes) before stack/blind ratios limit your actions to push or fold. As for MTTs, there are almost hourly NL tournaments, plenty of freeroll and frequent player tournaments and a heavy commitment to the Ultimate Bet Aruba Classic, one of the most popular tournaments on the WPT. The site offers ongoing satellites to other WPT and WSOP events, player point promotions and reload bonuses. If you try UB, you'll be happy you did; it's obvious why several pros associate with it.

  What we liked
- Fast, reliable, feature-rich software
- Player-friendly SnG structure; 1500 chips, 10-12 min levels, gradual increases
- Lots of MTTs at various buy-ins; almost hourly free-roll and frequent player tournaments
- Lots of NL ring game action
- Easy-to-use mini-view option; great for multi-tabling
- You can choose your own background and you're always seated front and center
- Sessions stats are table-specific
- No annoying avatars--no infant, pet, super-hero, hip hop wannabe, etc. images!
  What we didn't like
- Not much and we find fault with everything!
- Confusing array of SnG options (reg, turbo, TEC, ultra)
- The lobby graphics and layout could be simplified
- Higher buy-in SnGs take a while to seat
- Guaranteed tournaments always fill; there's rarely an overlay
- No option to see bet amounts on the table
- No option to store HHs locally
Why you should play the site
- UB offers the most player-friendly software we've seen
- The $200K Gtd MTT ($200 + $15 buy-in, Sun 5p EST) usually offers an overlay of 10+%.
- Excellent SnG blind structure and level times
- Plenty of cash games with flop %s of 40+%
- Great promotional giveaways: WSOP VIP packages, a 50" plasma TV
  For the ring game player
- Reports that UB games are too tough are over-stated
- Try the mini-view; it's easy to use and follow the action; it's great for multi-tabling
- UB is compatible with PokerTracker with a free add-on available from the PT web-site
- Cards are not visible during all-ins
- Session stats are table specific (hands, flops seen, etc. for each table individually)
  For the tournament player
- SnGs with buy-ins <$50 have 10 min levels; at $50+, 12 min levels; both start with 1500 chips
- We found the play to be very loose relative to the gradual blind structure; be patient
- You'll find lots of MTTs at various buy-ins; almost hourly free-roll and frequent player tournaments
- The $200K Gtd MTT ($200 + $15 buy-in, Sun 5p EST) usually offers an overlay of 10+%.
  For the value player
- Your UB points are worth approximately 1/2c in tournaments
- The SnG blind structure gives plenty of play at all buy-ins
- At UB, if you're the 1st or 2nd person at the table, you'll earn 50% and 25% more bonus points; you can clear your bonus faster by starting new tables
  Insider tips
- Set aside plenty of time for SnGs; the average regular SnG lasts 80+ minutes
- Use your UB points for tournament entries; it'll take you 15-20 years to "earn" the Harley
- Launch the "extended chat" in the options window and place it to the right of the table; it'll make it easy to recap the action
- At UB, if you're 1st or 2nd at the table, you'll earn 50% and 25% more bonus points; you can clear your bonus faster by starting new tables
- Your max table limit is 3 by default but you can get it increased to 5 by emailing support

  Software review
This is our favorite software; it's fast and stable, offers a simple intuitive player interface and almost every option we would want. There's full lobby and table stats (note: the table stats are table specific--you get different stats for each table played...with full explanations). The betting buttons are simple to use and intuitive; it's hard to make a betting mistake here. It's easy to see stack sizes and pot amounts, although we'd like to see the option to view other players' bet amounts. We love the "mini-view" option which collapses the table view to a roughly (1.5"x 8" view) that is still remarkably easy to use and follow; it's great for multi-tabling. We also like the ability to detach the chat window and set its size and font. We think the lobby could use a facelift, though. There's good info, but it seems poorly presented relative to the rest of this well-designed, player-oriented site.
  Hand histories
UB hand histories are available real-time for recap. They're not stored locally on your hard drive, but they are available for real-time review and via email request. UB is compatible with PokerTracker but requires the use of a add-on available from www.pokertracker.com
