Today was frustrating. I think im done for the day mainly because I have a head ache. As usual I didnt play a ton. I started the day by playing a 5.50 double stack tourney. This tourney lasted me literally one hand.

So honestly I dont really hate how the hand went. The whole AIPF bit is probably stupid, but for some reason i felt like gambling, but its definately not something i do all the time. Actually, i cant remeber the last time something like that happened. sigh
Anywho, on to the next tourney. This was early (again) in an 8.80 tourney. The player had just finished getting it in bad and catching up, so that and the stack sizes definately played into my decision making.

That sucked. I dunno if im supposed to flat call there or what, but since any raise commits me, I went with the shove. Not great results...Moving along
The next tourney was an 18 man 5.50 non turbo. This was the final table bubble.

I think i played the hand fine, on the the turn my reraise is basically a pot sized bet. maybe going all in there isnt optimum, im not sure really what else i should do. My grasp on math isnt great, but i figure im commited and theres no way im just flat calling when only one hand beats me ATM. le sigh
After that I managed to take a win in a 6.50 turbo 18 man, and that definately helped my cause. There wasnt any overly exciting hands to report in that. I find in those little SNGs there isnt a ton of play.
Anywho last hand is from the record breaker tourney on tilt. Im basically just posting it coz it sucked.

Getting a migrane sucks, hopefully itll pass so i can play some more, but my meds for these generally knock me out for a bit. I know these hands are probably standard but im open to any input on things you might do differently. Oh well. what can yah do, pretty unfortunate. Not gonna bother posting until tuesday now since i covered today,
GL all
Okay, So I have decided to write a blog. There are two main reasons why I have decided to do this:
1- I figured that if I start posting my half assed weak as fuck results along with certain hands that ive run into along the way that, coupled with some constructive criticism from you fine folks, I just might get to be a little bit better.
2- I am bored as fuck
The other things that might show up in this blog could be stories that I find funny, observations, and things of that sort. My trip reports would generally include going to the bar, and sometimes trips out of this shitty town, but nothing like Bond18's epic stories. But, I will do my best
to type up some round ups if anything interesting or funny happens. Bond is actually my Hero.
Okay, so, on to poker. Before I get into everything I will let you know something; Im basically the definition of low volume. Thats not even a joke, my entire "sample size" on tilt where i play is 336 games, I also have maybe 4k hands of cash played, give or take. I'll be honest, I started playing in lke 2007, thats when i first found poker, online or otherwise, but it wasnt until last april or may that I really started to take the game more serious and doing things like reading books, checking out sites (like p5's and 2+2), and talking to my other friends who play poker etc. I play live around this little town when i get the chance as well but i really am still very inexperienced. Also, I have absolutely no ego when it comes to poker. Im not a great player, I dont make millions, i mean, im lucky if it covers my liquor and chinese food over the course of a weekend. Okay, thats probably an understatement. According to my records Im up an okay amount, the total isnt going to knock your socks off, but it keeps me going day to day.
I didnt really play much until June since i was working earlier, but June and up to now has been okay. i did good playing some cash, I won a weekly tourney held live here, and cashed in it another time, took a top 20 position in the MSOP O/E (half 08 half stud 8) tourney won a small stud 8 tourney (5.50 114 players), and FT'ed it again later the same week.
I had a FT in a HA tourney (5.50, 116 players took 7th) FT'd a small HOSE tourney (5.50 51 players took 6th) second place in an 11 dollar sunday night HORSE satty for 54 bucks.
Thats pretty much it up until yesterday except for some tier one sit an goes that i managed to score a couple of those dandy 26 dollar tokens.
That pretty much takes us up to yesterday. Yesterday didnt suck to bad either. I played in 4 different Sngs and one satty. 5.50 45 man, and 27 man. 8 dollar O8 satty, a 6 dollar turbo 18 man,
and a 6.50 PLO 6 max. thats right, all day, 5 tourneys.
I told ya, low volume. Anywho, i came in second in the six max wich basically just doubles your money, i came in 7th in the satty wich paid me a box of fresh wyoming air, i took 3rd in the 18 man wich is like 17 dollars profit, i came 33rd in the 45 man, i really dont do well in these, but i lost with KK against Ace rag, so thats just unfortunate. I managed to win the 27 man for a cool 54 bucks. I know SNG wins arent really big deals to most, but its nice to take a win any time.
So now your up to date. Pretty fuckin exciting eh! A buddy of mine picked up a card runners account, so He was nice enough to allow me to check it out, so ive been trying to look at the vids blogs etc. Its interesting stuff. One thing I noticed was a lot of people talk about variance.
Now having a friend who plays for a living Im pretty familiar with the term, but the question I have for you guys is this: How much do you have to play to experience variance? If you have a large sample size are you more likely to see the mean side of variance? im sure thats more the case but id love to get your points of view on it. I generally joke by saying "variance is when i am doing good, everything else is standard".
Well this concludes my first contribution. I am going to be updating this frequently, hopefully the next one will be a bit more interesting and I will be adding some hands etc.
