First off I will say that I’ve never been a good writer, never will. I don’t have the flamboyant writing style with an assortment of crazy sex stories that a certain Mr. Bond has. This is just going to be a simple blog to help me vent after I crash out and to build up a database of every “player” however bad they may be.
My play is far from perfect and I am capable of many brainfarts in a tourney so just take it with a pinch of salt and don’t be hatin if you see a questionable hand “zomfg you played that like a moron, GIFAFI” etc. You could comment on how I could have played it though.
Week 1 – The Journey Begins - 5th June 2009

Starting Stack: 7500 chips

Nothing interesting happens for the first 2 blind levels.
Its a while before I get into my first significant hand.
Blinds: 100/200
Stack 8000
7 Handed
Hero is UTG+1 with A

5

raises to 500, 3 callers.
Flop 5

7

T
BB Checks, Hero bets 450 (looking to bet/raise ai), MP1 Calls, fold, fold. (Villain has played many pots limping or calling pre flop, She has won a few pots being aggressive postflop)
Turn 8
Not a bad card, Hero Checks, Villain bets 1500, hero raises to 4000, villain calls. (I don’t like how I played the turn, I prefer a bet as it widens my range somewhat, cr looks so strong here.) Anyways river: A
Hero Shoves 3050 ai, Villain calls with 78
A few hands later I get involved again
Blinds 100/200
Stack 15500
Folds to Hero in HJ with T

8

, Hero raises to 500, CO calls, BB Calls. Pot 1600.
Flop 4

6

4
BB checks, Hero bets 700, CO folds, BB Calls.
Turn T
Villain checks, (I don’t know why I didn’t bet here as its likely villain has a 6 or a draw, I felt villain would have check/raised the flop with a 4), I check behind.
River J
Villain bets 1500. I couldn’t spot a solid tell on villain but when I was shuffling my chips thinking about what to do I looked at villain and he immediately looked away, thinking back on it he did look nervous, I didn’t know what it meant so I discounted it and just thought through the hand.
I know villain is a competent hand reader, and I’ve played the hand like I could have AK, AQ, KQ. I can’t see any hand villain would be betting big here apart from an unlikely 4, a jack that peeled the flop, both which unlikely considering the villain so I call and he immediately mucks after I show.
14 Left, 7 paid
7 Handed
Blinds 400/800
Hero Stack: 21000
Villain Stack: 14000
Hero holds Q

J

MP1, folds to hero, raises to 2000, folds to BB who calls.
Flop J

9

4

, Villain donk bets 2500, I have seen villain donk bet before with draws, mid pairs, never seen him do it with a strong hand. When I asked for a chipcount villain immediately gave away a tell showing weakness, villain remaining stack 9500, I shove, he calls with J

5

.
Turn 8
I immediately start counting my chips out and don’t bother looking at the river, I slide my chips over with 6200 remaining. NH sir.
Very next hand I get dealt QJo, pretty sure this is standard shoving, given how tight the table has been but I’m sure the peoples calling ranges widen as they may put me on tilt (Note: I’ve never been on tilt with a short stack playing live), anyways I shove. Villain in previous hand is now in SB, after hollywooding he calls with AJo, Fuck you sir, fuck you. Can’t remember the cards but the turn offer me a possible river flush which blanks. I say GG etc and walk out, adding villain to my list of people to spite call on the bubble.
Lol donkaments.
