Holy God My Body Is In Pain

So in a continuing effort to work out and exercise more, my roommate and I started playing racquetball. Went to the store yesterday and I got some new racquets/googles/balls (as I lost the set in one of many moves that i had from college) and hit the court. What an amazing game (and tbh, we had to look up the rules because I had completely forgotten how to play) and work out. Was struggling hardcore yesterday to breathe, but the session this morning went much better, and a 40minute session wasn’t nearly as bad.

Had a student this morning, and then started grinding. Grinding has been going well. I got a nice shipment of $0.03 from Rusty Nails (thank you again good sir!) which generally seems to strike a run good match…and that it did. I am actually more aggro now than I have been in quite some time, but super balanced in aggression application. Playing very well, avoiding coolers, and actually hit a 2 outter! (KK v a 1/2stack idiot’s A9 on 998). Hopefully more of this to come!

So finished up sessions today, and went to put in another racquetball session. Did an hour this time and again was breathing much better…but holy shit am I sore. My entire lower back feels like I got ran over by a motorcycle. I think I will take tomorrow off as almost 2hrs of exercise when your body is used to like a 1/2hr at most might kill you. Feels really good though, getting myself into more of a routine, and a healthy one at that.

I did actually laugh the other day that people on FTP seemed to have not forgotten me. I was over there trying to get my HUD set up and also get some software stuff working (mouse scroll wasn’t working correctly) and had a few people say hello. Meant to put in some sessions over there but the games are fucking infested with shortstacks…like…to the point where the shortstackers are all losing money LR (but making a few bucks per hour thanks to RB). So sad to see people that dumb…though even sadder to see the regs that stay at the tables and get chewed up by it.

Other than poker and work out stuff, nothing is really new. Just grind grind grind. Hope all is well!

Weekend Update And Other Such Things

The weekend was pretty laid back as far as stress levels are concerned. Being I am back to grinding more hours I am spending a lot of time with my mental game. Rewatched a bunch of Jared Tendler vids from Stox and focused heavily on the tilt control video. It amazes me how this little 13 minute video has helped me time after time when I begin to slip back into a bad tilt routine. So I am back to deep breathing after certain pots and also asking myself “why am I mad and what about that can I ACTUALLY control?”…working out well so far =)

My new goal is 5hrs/day of poker work (coaching included) for 6days/week. This should come out to about 75K hands/mo (9tabling, ldo) which is plenty fine. I feel I have been way too lazy, so it is back to grind time. On top of that, I also need to do at least 2 gym sessions/week and continue along with my diet, which has stayed very solid. These should not be difficult things to do…but will help me with my discipline again.

On top of all this I am spending a lot of time learning the stock market. My friend got interested in it and has shipped me over a bunch of reading to get started on it. It is scary how similar to poker the market is. The mental game is almost all the same (and one of the biggest factors that effects novices from what I can tell) and it is all about finding a strategy, implementing it, and tweaking as necessary. My ADD is making it difficult, but I am learning the way I would learn poker now: reading + playing + pattern searching rinse/repeat. It is kind of odd how quickly my brain is picking up to certain patterns, so I might start doing some paper trading over the next month and seeing how I do. I eventually want to get a prop job when I get back to east coast because the increased leverage will help me get a quicker start and make it scale faster.

That’s it for today. Back to reading and looking at charts =)

Hope all is well

High Blood Pressure? Thanks Poker!

Just wanted to put up a quick blog post before I crash out. Things have been going pretty well this week. Although it feels like it is already Friday…damn long feeling weeks. Went to the doctors on Monday and everything checks out except for a lil high blood pressure. Im guessing much of that can be attributed to stress and lack of sleep, so not really surprising. Also got some numbers from them to further me along on my quest for adderall, so hopefully I can get that all figured out soon.

I have actually been falling asleep much quicker the last couple of days. Only 1hr on average to crash out! I have been doing a little yoga at night to burn some energy and it is helping thus far. Also realized how bad my balance has become, so it’s nice to get that back on track. I need to get in better shape, so yoga and maybe actually a run or so should help that. I hate being busy with things that are a higher priority than keeping in shape.

Business stuff is going well. Spent lots of time the last few days dealing with lawyer stuff. Also been working on an upcoming project that should be quite amazing when finished. I know I have been very elusive as to what the project is for the last few months, and I apologize. Just know it should be pretty damn awesome when released =)

That all being said, I need sleep badly. Fingers crossed I can get right to sleep. Hope all is well!

DO NOT READ THIS POST

July is finally over. Managed to give a few points to my team, but due to running like I normally do, I couldn’t do too much. Started this month putting in a few hours, trying to put in way more hands than I have been. I’m trying to put in longer sessions online, which is feeling good. Did a 2.5hr session today, just 9 tabling, and it feels super comfortable. Then did a lil session of HULHE, and then went to casino to grind out for a few hours.

For the record…when I complain about running bad, it’s not “omg I run so bad but look at my profit after it’s all said and done” (no offense Doobie). When I complain, it is because I am legit losing. I try my best not to complain about running bad, but I’m going to now. If you don’t wish to read rambly fucking junk…then go read another post or go to another webpage.

I seriously run worse than just about anyone. The adage in poker is that “it is good to lose…it keeps fish thinking they can win, and thus keeps them in the game longer”. This is fantastic! Except when you are the fucking person that is going to fucking lose every mother fucking time. When every fucking 11/7 shitfuck that sits there, just barely able to fucking push buttons correctly, and constantly runs like jesus against the fish who of course ran like jesus against me…it’s awesome. When every fucking 87/9 fucking hits every fucking runner fucking runner fucking perfect draw to fuck my sets…that is awesome! When this happens not once a fucking session, but multiple times and then day after fucking day…ITS EVEN MORE FUCKING AWESOME

And then, even better, I hit nothing. Ever. I am “owed” about 13 sets…THIS MONTH ALONE. Not even including the 20 or so I was “owed” last month. It is insane. But, the fucking drooling ass retard who thinks it is standard to hit a set 1/3.5…doesn’t understand. They just think hitting their sets every other fucking sample is standard, and hitting their fucking draws, regardless of the amount of outs, is even more standard. I have hit 3 draws today. Of those 3 draws, one got stacks in. And of course, that was against the worst played fucking higher draw ever. Cuz fuck…that’s standard!!! If just once, I could ever run good…seriously, like 20K hands of run good, I would triple my earn of 2009. And if I hear one more dickfuck say “omg, im going to switch tables…i haven’t hit a hand in an hour!!!” while playing live…when they literally just had KK 20 minutes ago…I’m going to stab a dude. And even if you didn’t have a hand in an hour…thats 30 fucking hands. Do you really run so good at life that you get something fucking, not only playable, but wins you a fucking pot every 30 minutes? Seriously, go drink some fucking Windex.

< /.word vomit>

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that is it for tonight. And seriously, there are 2 people that understand what it is like to run anywhere near an equivalent of me…and if you are not them…then don’t fucking bitch ever again about your “omg im down 5BI on my make-believe EV graph”

I Played With Phil Hellmuth

What an odd weekend it was. I guess I will start on Thursday night. Sat down at about midnight with Cwar to talk about some business stuff…which is generally done while playing Chinese poker. In case you have never played Chinese poker before, you are dealt 13 cards. You then make 3 hands, two 5 card hands and one 3 card hand. We play the hi/lo/hi version (best 5 card poker hand, 5 card lowball hand (2-7), and best 3 card hand (best 5 card hand must beat your 3 card hand)). Ended up playing this for about 3 hours (getting some good business conversation done at the same time), and then changed it up to play two hands each (so we are both dealt half the deck). This turned into another 3 hours of playing, and I finally crashed as the sun was peaking.

Wake up in the afternoon for a student, do a few hours of work, then head down to the strip. The 2p2 party was at 6p, and I finally got there at about 6:30 or so. It was at the Hard Rock poker room, which I will say, is an awesome little room. Very nice atmosphere, decently sized, and nice spacing between tables. I sat right in at a 1/2mix game (PLO/PLO8) and got to put some faces to names. About 30min in there was some commotion about Phil Hellmuth wanting to play at our table. So they racked up the dude next to me for a bit and wouldn’t you know it, I got to play with Phil. He of course got my left, which I was none too thrilled with. But he seemed to be an OK guy and shook hands with everyone. Hard to say if he would have been a dick being he won every hand he entered and hit top set 3x in 1.5 orbits.

So he left after a lil bit (maybe 30min?) and at the same time the guy on my right returns to the table. He looks familiar, and is wearing a Cake Poker shirt…so I ask him as he’s sitting down “you look really familiar, and I’m probably going to look like a douche, but are you Lee Jones?”. He quickly responds “still not sure if you’re a douche, but yea, I’m Lee Jones”. LOL. Cool guy, definitely a poker room manager though as he was table captain like none other. Really odd to look around the room and see a wide range of people. Saw Raymer, Luske, TT, a bunch of mods, Deeb, and some other people I had met back in TS. Very well run event imo, and cool experience. Though odd to see that only about 14% of people there were the nerdy internet looking types..stereotypes are silly.

So after that I went down to the Venetian to meet up with GregGGhehe and NotOnTilt who were in town. Went to Grand Lux for dinner before I went to put in a session. Apparently Greg was down quite a bit from 1/2NL live (silly live poker) and was probably getting out of there soon. He mentioned skydiving on Sunday, which I was hoping was going to happen, but he bounced out early. They also had some other friends in town who were nice guys, and I meant to play Chinese poker with them, but I don’t play Chinese when stuck =(. Had a really rough weekend grinding, just couldn’t get anything going and lost KKvAA aipf, set v runner/runner flush, 2 draws hit the whole time, and a bunch of aipf spots that were pretty unavoidable and ran into the top of their ranges. -$1.6K or so, but it happens.

Sleep schedule is back to being effed up as usual…so I will try to correct that this week. Hope all is well everyone!
