I placed about 95% of my poker winnings in Vanguard mutual funds a year or so ago. I've lost half. I realize other people are in the same boat but damn...all that hard work.


I haven't been playing much lately. I think I've logged 4 sessions since September 1st and am +1k. I've been busy as hell with work.

My claim to fame right now is that I helped out the eventual winner of FTOPS #10.

busto This is just plain atrocious. If antes were involved it might not be that bad but otherwise it's just dumb. Trying to be a little too fancy in a spot that doesn't call for it. I'm blaming my gf for this one. She called right as this hand was dealt and I was trying to pay attention to both. When possible...blame the woman.

My bustout of event #1 was similar but until some pro tells me otherwise I'm ok with it. The villain had been stealing quite a few buttons and rightly so since the BB was playing 4/2. I felt he was raising with any two cards here and felt I should push with just about any 2. I don't know. Event #1

These are both plays that I never would have made a year ago and maybe I should stick to the old ways.

The next time you're outside take a second and look at everyone's front lawns. Is there anyone doing anything useful with them? If so it's probably for maintenance. Mowing, weeding, watering, planting flowers, trimming hedges, laying down mulch...which are all a pain in the ass (unless your green thumb enjoys planting). Front lawns are useless yet most people have to give them time or the neighbors get pissed. I told this to my girlfriend/future wife and she said "They look nice". Of course they do because everyone is wasting their time out there but they serve no purpose other than aesthetics which is just a byproduct of what our society is used to from a home.

Obviously the backyard is where it's at. BBQ, bags, playing catch, kids running around. I currently own a townhouse and am semi considering buying a house but I don't want to keep up with the yard. That's the main reason I haven't bought one. Maybe my rants to my girlfriend are so when the inevitable house buying occurs I can let the front yard go to hell and let a jungle sprout up. "It's nature honey...wouldn't want to waste that precious gas mowing the useless unused front yard" So DOWN WITH FRONT YARDS!!! I'm putting in astroturf.

A couple of weeks ago I was at a summerfest in a suburb and forgot to move my car from the side street. I walked down to my car around 3am and literally 5 feet from the sidewalk were two (I'm assuming hammered) buck naked people getting a little 69 action on. My first thought was "Damn I left my cell phone inside" and then I strolled past trying not to stare. I got in my car and realized no one was going to believe me so I turned the corner and told this guy out having a smoke that their was a 69 show a couple of houses down. He looked at me in disbelief and I said "I had to tell someone". As I pulled away and looked in my rearview mirror he was turning the corner for the show.

Now if that becomes the official use for front yards then I'll take back my damning words and cheer on the lonely front yard.

When I saw that SirWatts won I let out a couple of wows and my girlfriend wondered what I was looking at. I explained how this guy on 2rags won the WPT Bellagio cup.

"Do you know him?" she asked.

"No...he has no idea who I am"

"Then..."

So I went on to explain how I had entered a few blog entries.

Well, there are 1.6 million reasons. This is an entry for the two people that private messaged me wondering what happened to me. With the likes of SirWatts, Bond, Junglen, Adanthar, and Nath on the site, no one really gives a shit about my 2/4 cash game. Read about winning 1.6 mil or winning a few grand?...hmmmm Like others, I enjoy reading their posts. Again, congrats to Mike "Sirwatts". I can't even imagine what it's like. Oh wait...yes I can.

I was playing tournies and had entered a few summary posts but I've pretty much stopped playing tournies for the time being because cash games have been good to me. I took a few coaching lessons which I'm still not sure if they helped me or not. My results were much better before coaching but it may just take awhile to adjust to a new style. I'm still winning and the lower results could just be due to variance.

I actually haven't been playing much lately because I've been on various vacations all summer. I've also been doing a little coaching myself for some friends and a few people I've met along the way. They mostly play 1/2 and under if you're interested.

That's pretty much it. I started the blog to meet some poker people but didn't really know what to expect from that...whatever. If I enter any big tournies or win some small ones I'll post some hands to discuss. Later
