Welcome to the World....

...my first grandchild, Gabriel Zane. He showed up this morning at 12:11 am and wieghed 6 obs. 5oz. and he's the most beautiful thing you've ever cast your eyes on.

Below is a link to the first picture we took. That's mom and dad with him. It's funny everytime he starts to cry they get that deer in the headlights look on their faces and start to panic. Today has been such a great celebration of life, one that I hope you all get to experience some day.

The Chinese have a saying, "May you live to see your granchildren." Well they have a lot of sayings but this one they got right.

Ahhh...a grandfather. Well I'm signing off now, I have to go drink some fiberaide and do three (maybe four) pushups.

First Blog ...happy ending ...so far..

I have waited a while to blog because I didn't think I had much to say that was interesting. But the last 3 weeks have been just a bit more than interesting, to say the least.

About 3 weeks ago I walked into my office and my supervisor said, "follow me." I figured staff meeting. He walks me into the Director's office and they proceed to "terminate me." I was shocked since all my evaluations have been excellent. We all have, or have had, a director like this guy. You're typical knucle-dragger (is that hyphenated?) who gets that Capt. Queeg on the bridge look on this face and runs to get his copy of 5 Minute IT Manager everytime he's forced to make a decision.

Tennessee is a right to work state so they can get away with basically anything. Then to top it off he contested my unempolyment insurance. I found out yesterday it was approved though so caught a break there.

I have decided to play poker and pay the bills that way for awhile and see where it goes. My ROI since I started full time is 377% so I'm taking it slow and piecing things together.

The next week my 20 year old son ends up in the ER and before it's over he's diagnosed with cancer. I have to go to my wife's workplace and tell her and of course she basically collapses.

The next week we have the visit with the oncology specialist and get the BEST NEWS possible. It's just the local tumor, no spreading, no matastisis, no anything. So the Oncologist, who was actually very cool (my son has no insurance..she basically said, I don't give a shit.) said cut it out and some local radiation and he should be good.

I have been kicked and beaten and left for dead bleeding in a ditch but I was never so scared in my life as when we were waiting for the news as to whether his cancer had spread.

So on that note...all is well with this family...all is well.
