I have not coached in a long while because I felt I wasn't happy with the product I was providing. Since then, I have done a lot of free sessions/evaluations and thought a lot about what it takes to be a winning player. I have recently been thinking about a more connected approach to coaching. I want to use a metaphor of the guy in the Disney movie "Up". If you haven't seen it, watch the trailer and you'll get the gist of the plot.
He was stuck in a rut living in the city (you, the losing or breakeven player right now) but had visions of relocating his house to Paradise Falls (your ideal poker goal). In order to fly his house, he had to fill up a bunch of balloons with helium (improving your A-game, giving you the tools to rise) and throw a bunch of old stuff out of his house that was weighing him down (coming to grips with your c-game and general mental aspects of poker).
Thus the approach will look to identify your mental/emotional anchors as well as discuss actual poker theory etc.
So - some Q and A:
Who is eligible?
Any break/even (less than 1 bb/100) or losing player who plays 10NL, 25NL, or 50NL mostly on
FTP or
Stars . You need to have an active database of over 30,000 hands at a specific limit.
How do I apply?
I will post further instructions in the General Poker Discussion forum.
How long will this run?
This will be a pilot for the effectiveness of the more connected approach and I'm hoping to run from the August 24th to September 6th (two weeks).
Why the "sort of"?
Well ... it's free for sure, but it's not really traditional coaching or teaching - just a pilot for an approach.
