First post..pls be gentle.

I'll try not to come off as a noob begging for help but the fact is, I do need help.
I have been playing Hold em' for a few years on and off.
No "big" scores to speak of and given the fact that I have little boys to take care of I generally play micro limits.
The biggest field I've won in had 2305 other players for the $.10 PS MTT.
I took home a whopping $54. Applause pls...

I haven't really played much during the past year or so. I had started running bad, playing with too much emotion, and generally decided that it would be best to take an extended break from poker.
I started playing again a little over a week ago on PS. I LOVE short-handed games because they suit my style of play.
I entered the PS $2.20 Quintuple Shootout and won. Again, not a lot of money (little less than $300). I know a lot of you guys wipe your a$$ with $300 but to me it was a big deal.
That experience rejuvinated my interest in Hold Em' and I've decided to re-commit myself to being a better/winning player.
I don't get out of the house much, I'm in VA where there are no casinos to play live. I just turned 33, all of my friends are pretty much the same age and have families as well. That said, due to schedules, we don't have the chance to play together nearly as often as we used to. I'm not aware of any poker sites online that allow me to setup my own match and invite someone. All of which brings me to my question....
How the hell can I get better? I'm looking for someone to play with, swap advice with, ask questions and get good answers, etc...
I currently have no one to assist me in my efforts. No one to say, "here is why I would call you in that situation", "what were you hoping to achieve by checking there, this is why it didn't work". Any constructive suggestions?
I suppose I'm in essence looking for a "poker buddy" (pardon the term) but don't know how to go about finding one.
I know I can post in forums but that seems a little static to me. I post, wait for a reply, reply to the reply, wait for another, etc....
Any replies will be truly appreciated...
