Bluff Magazine

The other day I spoke with the Editor-in-Chief of Bluff Magazine, Mr. Matthew Parvis.

We discussed the possibility of having me write for Bluff. After discussing some personal terms I had, I'm happy to say I've managed to leverage my general reputation, as well as raw writing talent showcased in my blog, and put myself in a position to write for one of the biggest poker magazine's out there.

Similar to my approach in MTT's, I'll only be writing when I really feel like, so nothing will be forced. I find the result of this approach seems to equal low quantity, but very high quality - which I think the reader will appreciate more anyways. I already have my first article in mind, but expect everything from trip reports to strategy articles, and everything in between.

--------------------------------------

Next up on the schedule is EPT Monte Carlo. I'm not 100% certain if I'll be going, but we'll see. It's one of the last European majors until I'm 21 (WSOPE too), but I've got a lot to do around home, and just aren't sure if I want to make the trip there. We'll see though, I gotta make up my mind fairly soon as it's from the 12th-17th of April.

That's just about it for now. Thanks to everyone who keeps up and reads my blog, as you've clearly had an impact in getting me the opportunity to write for Bluff.

I appreciate it,

What's New?

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. To be honest, there hasn’t been anything terribly exciting going on.

I really don’t like talking about insignificant results, but on Sunday I managed to make 2 small/medium sized final tables. Before Sunday it’d been about a week since I played, or even thought about poker deeply. Sometimes taking a mental break and really thinking about things is worth a lot more to me than playing the nightly MTT’s.

The two tournaments were the FTP $50 1r/1a, and the Cake 30k. I took 5th in the FTP tournament for around 2k, and 3rd in the Cake tourney for $3.6k. It felt good to play again, and making two FT’s certainly didn’t hurt that feeling.

Besides that, I’ve just been slowly getting stuff around my apartment finished. The day I landed back in Cleveland (a week ago now), was right before a huge snow storm hit Cleveland. Ray’s flight back here was delayed a day, as they completely closed down Cleveland Airport for a night. Although it’s clearing up a little more everyday, we were hit with around 20in of snow. That was a nice sight to come back home to.

Guess that’s it for now.

They Give You This, But You Pay For That

I’d like to think the title of this post pretty much sums up Las Vegas. Currently in a massive STD scare. It’s obviously all over the news here, I’m curious as to how much press this will be getting when I arrive home tomorrow night. It’s really sick that one of the biggest cities/tourist destination’s can't maintain clean clinic's.

Oh wait, no….that sounds like Las Vegas.

I’ve had a good few days here in Vegas, but I don’t think I’ll ever spend time here without thinking how backwards this place can be. Obviously the incident of the HIV/Hepatitis malpractice was coincidental, but there’s a lot of things that could be considered “morally grey,” or just straight up wrong, around me. Maybe it’s the fact I had such a solid family upbringing with good values that makes me kind of tingle when I see a gigantic billboard (with the number) to file for a divorce.

Anyways, the PokerVT filming went smoothly. It was great to be able to talk about the project in person and become more knowledgeable about the poker industry in general. I went over some critical hands I’ve played, did some basic bio stuff and answered some Q&A. I’m really looking forward to the launch of VT next month.

That’s really it for now. Lookin forward to gettin back home.

Later guys,

Bellagio

I vividly remember my last trip departing from Las Vegas back home to Cleveland. I told myself I'd never return to Vegas until I was 21. While I had a good time with my friends for a few weeks last summer, it was overall a gigantic tease. Watching huge live events play out everyday (WSOP/Bellagio Cup), was practically torturous.

Well GUESS WHERE I AM!

Haha, I'm currently at the Bellagio (which is v. nice might I add). I'm not here to visit friends like I was last year though - this time around I'm here for PokerVT filming. I didn't sleep on Sunday night and just stayed awake til my flight left at noon on Monday. I got a couple good hours of sleep in on the flight, but I'm obviously still exhausted. I'm currently just relaxin in my room, might hit up the hot tub.

Tomorrow I'll be going over some of my instructional material for PokerVT, as well as random media stuff. The more I realize the potential of this project, the more excited I get. I'm really unsure of how much I'm supposed to "give away" about this project, but I can tell you we're on schedule to launch in the near future. It should be a great opportunity, and something to keep me busy until I'm 21.....

Well, I'm just gonna kick back and relax, probably goto sleep a little early tonight. I've got a massage scheduled for tomorrow morning, and then it's showtime in the studio.

Later guys,

-Adam Junglen

It's Been Awhile

Hey guys,

I know it’s been awhile since my last entry, just not a lot to report.

I haven’t been playing too much poker. Today was the first day I played tournaments in about 10 days. Although on Saturday I “goofed around” with a friend and played 1/2NL HU and ended up winning 5 buyins off of him ($1k). Then decided to play “pokerts” in a $2k HU SNG and took that down. Besides that, today was the first day I played tournaments in awhile.

I ran into some pretty tough luck in the bigger tournaments. I took 13th in the $100r for $1,880 (1st = $40k). Then lost a race and was busto in the Super Tuesday ($1k buy-in) pretty quickly with AK < QQ AIPF.

Stars has these new 4-max 10min level tournaments, which I really like. I enjoy turbo’s and playing 4-max takes a lot more skill than full ring. At any rate, I cashed in both the $80+8 buyin one (14th for $360), then took 3rd in the $50+5 one for $1.7k.

Overall I’m pretty satisfied with my play, and even better than the days profit (a whopping $1k), I recorded the last hour of the $50+5 4-max tournament live for PokerVT. I was really hoping I could’ve taken it down, just cause having an MTT win recorded live would be badass, but in the end I took 3rd….but not before recording some pretty good poker. I think it was likely the best video I’ve made so far - lots of decisions playing shorthanded, and I’m pretty sure that the viewers will appreciate the fact it was recorded live, not done on a replayer.

I suppose that’s all for now. In less than a week I’ll be on a plane to Vegas to film for PokerVT - should be a good time.
